Intro to Engineering
Grade Level: 9th – 12th
Cost of class: $475 per semester* (one-semester course offered 2nd semester)
May be paired with Forensics for a full year of science.

This class may be paired with Forensics. You will need to register for each class individually. You may also choose to register for this one-semester class by itself for 2nd Semester.
Note: Lab supplies will be provided when students are In-Person for class.
In this one-semester elective, students will apply engineering solutions to solve various real-world problems. Students will build technical skills by applying engineering principles to individual and team projects. Topics covered will be machines, molecules, electricity, energy and so much more. We will answer questions such as how do our phones work, engines run, water pumping uphill, and even how satellites work!
The class will include topics such as:
- Mechanics of Movement
- Accidental Inventions
- Moving Molecules
- Famous Failures
- Waves of Movement
- Evolving Inventions – Refrigerators, Vacuums, Cars, Stoves, and more
- Waves of Energy
- 3-D Printing
- Electricity
- Digital Machines and Systems
- Time – How it Was Standardized
Class meets weekly for 1.5 hours (45 minutes of lecture and 45 minutes of hands-on lab time). Weekly homework assignments from the textbook and lab paperwork will be completed by students at home. Tests will be taken online at home and will be administered by a parent/guardian.
