HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES $475 - 625 PER SEMESTER
CHEMISTRY $575 OR $625 HONORS
General Chemistry is an A-G certified first-year introductory class to the wonderful world of the atom. Through lectures, class discussions, small group activities, homework and labs and class lab challenges, students will explore chemical concepts as they apply to the world around them. Emphasis will be on disciplinary core concepts, both qualitative and quantitative laboratory inquiry, mathematical modeling of key concepts, and the process of scientific inquiry. Topics include but are not limited to: modeling the atom (nuclear & subatomic), understanding properties of matter at the bulk scale, chemical bonding, understanding and modeling chemical reactions, moles, stoichiometry, colligative properties, concentration/dilution, thermodynamics, reaction rate, dynamic equilibria, acid/base, reduction/oxidation (redox) and gases. Additional emphasis is placed on the chemical effects of human activity on the environment and on using chemistry to offer viable solutions.  This class may culminate in a multi-week biochemical engineering unit depending on participant interest and charter requirements. Class meets weekly for 2.25 hours and includes keeping a scientific journal and writing basic lab reports.Â
Pre- or Co-requisite:Â Algebra 1
Honors Chemistry is a first-year introductory class to the wonderful world of the atom. It is designed to meet A-G criteria for UC school admissions and prepare the student for AP chemistry, future STEM classes, or college chemistry. Through lectures, class discussions, small group activities, homework, student-led labs and class lab challenges, students will explore chemical concepts as they apply to the world around them. Class meets weekly for 3 hours and includes keeping a scientific journal and full lab reports (write-ups).Â
Charters must approve the Honors designation.
Pre-requisite:Â Successful completion of Algebra I with a C or better.

NEW THIS YEAR: There will be a Printed Lab Book Option available for purchase for Biology, Life, Marine, and Physical Science classes for $65 for the full year of lecture notes and labs. ELEMENTARY ONLY: 1st and 2nd-semester packets are sold separately. $30 per semester/lab book. USE THIS LINK between July 15 and August 4 to order your Lab Book. Payment is required upon ordering either online or via Zelle to jill@science2u.com. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN. We will not buy back or refund printed lab books if a student drops or for any reason.
Late Ordering and Delivery will be open until Sunday, August 24th. Students who order and pay from August 5th – August 24th will be responsible for printing and bringing their own materials until printed books are delivered by week 2. No other ordering opportunities will be available after August 24th.
Charter Funds: We advise against using charter funds to order the Printed Lab Book. We cannot place the order until we receive payment from the charter school. This process can delay delivery by up to 30 days after the end of the month in which the purchase order (PO) is dated. For example, if the PO has an August service date, you can expect to receive the Printed Lab Book by early October. A September service date would result in delivery by early November. You must print your materials until then. More information is available when clicking the link.Â
