Human Anatomy & Physiology

Grade Level: 11th – 12th A-G certified (if charter approved)
Human Anatomy & Physiology is a two-semester course
This class is being offered at an introductory rate of $375 per semester – this year only.

Note: Materials will be provided when students are in person for class.

This course is more than a traditional science class — it’s an opportunity to explore the human body in a way that is personal, relevant, and applicable to real life. Students move through major body systems while always asking why it matters to them, connecting biology to their health, stress, movement, learning, and futures. This course features unique projects tailored to individual interests, hands-on labs designed to spark curiosity, and a mastery-based grading model focused on genuine understanding over point accumulation. The goal here is learning, not just completion. Students will be challenged to think critically, building skills that serve them whether they’re headed into healthcare, science, or any other path life takes them.

2026–27 Pilot Year: Invited Seniors Only
This inaugural offering is open exclusively to selected seniors as a pilot program. Class sizes will be small, tuition is offered at a significant discount, and students will play a meaningful role in shaping the course for future years through their feedback. Beginning in 2027–28, the course will open to all juniors and seniors.

This rigorous high school anatomy and physiology course uses weekly lectures and engaging labs to facilitate a thorough understanding of the structure and function of the human body.

Throughout the curriculum, students explore essential topics including:

  • anatomical foundations
  • the skeletal, muscular, and integumentary systems
  • nervous system and motor control
  • cardiovascular and respiratory physiology
  • immunity, digestion, metabolism, and endocrine systems
  • reproductive systems

The laboratory component provides hands-on experiences including dissections, physiological data collection, and microscopy to reinforce theoretical knowledge and foster a deeper understanding of the human body as an integrated system. By successfully completing this course, students will acquire a comprehensive understanding of anatomy and physiology and cultivate essential scientific skills necessary for future studies in health, medicine, and the life sciences.

Prerequisite: Any A-G Biology course.
